GUEST CODE OF CONDUCT

MET prides itself on being one of the best performance theaters in the region. We are committed to maintaining a safe and accessible environment wherein our patrons, staff, artists, students, donors, board members and volunteers are all part of our wonderful family. We invite you to join our family by:

  • Treating everyone with respect, dignity and equity.

  • Respecting those whose experiences you may not identify with or understand.

  • Celebrating various forms of expression and trusting that there is enough space for us all.

If we witness harm being caused, we commit to:

  • Having the courage to interrupt and lead with compassion and professionalism.

  • Working together to rectify a situation when harm is caused, intentionally or accidentally.

PERFORMANCE RELATED POLICIES

LATE SEATING POLICY

Entry and re-entry to the theater is not guaranteed once a performance has started.

Due to the intimate nature of live performance in our small theater spaces, patrons entering after the show has started can be distracting for the performers and the rest of the audience.

It is solely the discretion of the Producing Artistic Director if anyone will be seated after the audience greeting has concluded.  If you anticipate a scenario where you may need to leave the theater during the show for a medical condition or emergency contact, please email boxoffice@metkc.org prior to your visit– we'd be happy to find you seats and come up with a plan that will allow us to minimize distraction while allowing you to enjoy as much of the play as possible.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

Concessions purchased in our main lobby (and side stations, if present) are welcomed inside our main theatre. Food and beverages from other sources are not allowed in the performance space. Alcohol brought in from outside the venue is forbidden.

PHOTOGRAPHY & RECORDING

Photography and recording are never allowed inside the theater, unless specifically authorized and approved by the Producing Artistic Director. If you'd like some great photos of our shows, please email us at boxoffice@metkc.org

MOBILE PHONES

All mobile phones should be silenced and preferably powered down during the performance.

TICKET EXCHANGES

Season Ticket Members and Flex Card Season Ticket Members may exchange their tickets at any time prior to their performance without incurring exchange fees. Upgrade charges between differently priced performances may apply.

Non-Members will incur a per-ticket exchange fee in addition to any applicable price differences and may exchange up to 24 hours prior to their performance.

All tickets are non-refundable.

PRESENTING YOUR TICKETS

We currently do not require patrons to present their tickets when arriving. We use a guest manifest to verify your ticket purchase and level. However, if you purchase your tickets within 48 hours of the scheduled performance, it is a good idea to bring your tickets. In the event, we don't have your name on the manifest, you will have proof of purchase. You may also show the house management staff member your ticket confirmation email from your phone as well.

PHOTO/VIDEO DISCLAIMER

During your visit, you or members of your family may be filmed, videotaped, and/or photographed by a MET staff member, contract photographer or the media. Your attendance at MET events serves as permission for the use of your image, or the image of your family members, by MET.

SHOW ADVISORIES

MET does not proactively offer advisories about subject matter, as sensitivities vary from person to person. If you have any questions about content, age-appropriateness or stage effects (such as strobe lights or theatrical fog) that might have a bearing on patron comfort, please contact our box office at 816-569-3226. In general, infants and children under three years old are not permitted in theatre.

SECURITY PROCEDURES

Entrance policies are in place to ensure audience and performer safety. All guests may be subject to visual inspections of all purses or bags.

  • Weapons of any kind including but not limited to knives, guns, mace, explosives, stun guns and anything else the staff on-site deem unacceptable will not be permitted on the premises.

  • Please note: Guests should arrive early to allow plenty of time to pass through any security as needed.
