Tech Director - Warwick Theatre

The Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (MET) seeks a skilled and collaborative Technical Director to lead and manage all technical aspects of production and maintenance of the Warwick Theatre. This role is responsible for ensuring that all productions are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget, while upholding MET’s high artistic standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of productions from initial design through strike

• Review scenic, lighting, sound, and projection designs for feasibility, safety, and budget alignment

• Draft and/or oversee the creation of technical drawings and build plans as needed

• Develop and manage production timelines, including build schedules, load-ins, technical rehearsals, and strikes

• Supervise scenic construction, installations, and backstage operations

• Maintain the scene shop, tools, equipment, and technical inventory, ensuring adherence to safety standards

• Recruit, train, and supervise overhire crew and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and educational environment

• Collaborate with production leadership on budgeting, purchasing, and expense tracking

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout rehearsals and performances

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Director or in a comparable role

• Proficiency in at least two of the following areas: scenic construction, carpentry, lighting, sound, or projection

• Ability to read and generate technical drawings and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Comfortable working on ladders and at heights​

Schedule Requirements

• Availability for evenings and weekends, including technical rehearsals and performances
